DPD has been the biggest transportation company in the UK for some years now. Recently they have acquired 100 MAN eTGE electric transporters for expanding their delivery fleet all over the country. The announcement was made before the commercial vehicle fair in Birmingham.
The recent acquisition of the 100 electric transporters will increase the total fleet of the delivery vehicles to the size of 600 thereby adding many new potentials to the electric transport market. Also, the DPD will become the transportation company with the largest electric transporter fleet.
The MAN eTGE electric transporter
The brand new MAN eTGE electric transporter has been very popular since its inception among the transportation companies and the recent acquisition of the electric transporter model by the DPD has brought the spotlight back to this model. The reason for the popularity of this particular model lies in the specifications of its performance.
The specifications of the MAN eTGE have increased its attractiveness in the eyes of the transportation companies. It has an engine output of up to 100 kW and can deliver a payload of 950 kg and has a loading volume of 10.7 square meters. Also, the delivery vehicle is powered by a 36 kWh battery and offers a range of 120 to 140-kilo meters.
Largest electric transporter for delivery purposes
The partnership between MAN and DPD is very important for the electric transporter market as the particular model is a 3.5-tonne delivery van completely working on the electric source and is going to be the center of attraction of the market now that it has been customized to fit right-hand drive. Apart from DPD, many other transportation companies have been looking for opportunities to acquire the MAN eTGE’s right-hand drive variant for adding it to their fleet.
