Spotify is among the most famous audio streaming apps globally, and recently, it has crossed a billion downloads on Android devices around the entire globe. A report by ‘Android Police’ has revealed that various users have downloaded the Spotify app from the Google Play Store more than a billion times. With that, Spotify has become the most frequently installed music app on the platform as Google has discontinued its Google Music service. Earlier, Spotify had crossed the 500 million downloads mark in just two years after its android release.

In the current scenario, the company is developing its ecosystem in almost every segment. Apart from having a free and subscribed version of the app, Spotify is all set to launch its own podcasting platform soon. The Spotify podcast service will pose a competition to Audible and Amazon Audiobooks. More than that, Spotify is also working on its hardware for car infotainment systems.

The globally followed news agency Reuters reports that Spotify has registered a recorded growth in markets such as the US and Asia. According to that report, in the last year, Spotify premium service subscribers have grown by 21 percent and reached the figure of 15.8 crores in total numbers. Apple Paid Podcasts launched that service in its ‘Spring Launch’ event last week.

In addition to that, Spotify has recently partnered with the social media platform, Face book, where the users will be given a Spotify mini-player in Facebook apps as well. In that way, Facebook’s platform can be used to share and listen to a bunch of different songs streaming from all around the planet.

Adding a cherry on top, Spotify has also brought a new user interface in the ‘your library’ section on both the Android and iOS platforms. The latest update has witnessed an addition of grid view in the form of UI changes and dynamic filters. Furthermore, to sort the music, users can now select the creator name and choose alphabetical order. There also has been another increment of switching to standard list view and grid view in the app.
