Google is already offering the feature of dark mode in many of its applications. The Android 11 OS also has a system-wide dark mode option, which can be enabled on preference. The search engine company is now rolling out the dark mode feature for its tools on the desktop version. This feature was being tested for the desktop version since last year. The same feature was given in the Android applications last year as well. However, the new feature rollout is being launched for all users now.
Matt Navara from the Next Web revealed through his Twitter account that the dark theme is now being rolled out for the desktop version. He stated that the users searching for Google search on Windows 10 and Mac OS devices are now being given the option of dark mode. Matt also shared screenshots related to the new feature, one of which shows the ‘Dark theme is now available’ notification along with the option to turn on the theme with it.
According to the Android Central report, if a user has got the Dark Mode feature available on the desktop browser, then the notification will be shown in the search results itself. After that, the users will be able to choose one of the two, the light or dark themes, by going to the settings based on one’s preference and likeability. The report also states that the dark mode given on the Google search desktop is not limited only to the company’s Chrome browser. The users will also be able to access this feature on browsers like Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Edge.
If a user can see the ‘Dark Theme Is Now Available’ notification on Google Search for Web, then the Dark Theme can be enabled directly from there. Apart from that, after visiting the Google search page in the web browser, one can tap on the Settings button shown at the bottom of the page. There, he/she has to go to the appearance section, and after selecting the dark theme option, the search results will start to appear in the dark mode.
In almost all the popular applications, the users are being given the feature of dark mode as it has many advantages. For example, the dark mode in smartphones saves the battery and does not put too much pressure on the eyes. In the same way, the users who engage for a long period of time in the large screen of their personal computers will now feel much less stress in there with the dark mode enabled. In sever browsers like Chrome and Firefox, the users can also try the new dark mode with the help of online extensions.
