Tata Power and Mahanagar Gas Ltd. Collaborates, offer Integrated Services

Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power utility, and Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL), one of the India’s leading City Gas Distribution Companies have signed a memorandum of understanding to provide various services including e-mobility.

The MoU was signed by Mr. Sanjib Datta, Managing Director, MGL and Mr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director, Tata Power in Mumbai. It facilitates both companies to explore the possibilities of co-operation in common utility revenue cycle management and customer management solutions, IT solutions, data analytics, geographical information system-based solutions, SCADA systems, common safeguard activities for underground assets, solar rooftop initiatives and setting up of commercial-scale charging and/or battery swapping stations for electric vehicles, with the allied power management solutions.

Shares of Tata Power closed at 1.96 per cent lower at 62.65 on the BSE while those of Mahanagar Gas slumped 3.96 per cent at 853.85. These systems are efficient and help organizations for smarter decisions. The growing adoption of cloud-based SCADA systems in organizations is propelling the market growth as per a report by Value Market Research. On the flip side, cyber threats to SCADA systems and high initial cost to set up the SCADA system could challenge the market growth in next few years.

Managing Director at MGL, Mr. Sanjib Datta said, At a time when MGL is entering the 25th year of its operations of providing environment-friendly CNG & PNG to Mumbai and its surrounding areas, we are exploring business opportunities beyond gas. This strategic alliance with Tata Power will provide us an opportunity to explore joint synergies and foray into emerging e-mobility business in the Indian mobility space.”
